Newcomers to Neighbors
Media Narrative Project

This book was a collaboration with my classmates that explored Middle Eastern culture in Los Angeles. I was the photographer for a chapter focused on the culture surrounding food and hospitality in Little Arabia, a neighborhood in Anaheim, CA.

Through this project, I:

  • Regularly visited and engaged in local community activities.

  • Collaborated with story partner to produce visuals that companied the written content of our chapter.

  • Cultivated cross-cultural relationships with community members and business owners throughout the area.

Gradient: Stories of Our Neighbors

Gradient is a student produced photo magazine that highlights the untold stories of marginalized people groups in Southern California. Together, my story partner and I photographed those who lived and worked in Little India, the largest Indian enclave in Southern California, located in Artesia, CA.

Through this project, I:

  • Engaged in cross-cultural relationships with local residents and visitors to cultivate connection and trust with the community.

  • Composed documentary-style images documenting the area, published in dedicated story chapter.

The Chimes Newspaper

During my time Biola, I photographed and wrote about on-campus University events for the student newspaper.

Examples of content include:

  • Photographed athletic games and club activities.

  • Wrote news articles and briefs about on-campus clubs and events.
